KIOO / PRIVACY

A little clarity.
For your peace of mind.

What stays on your Mac, what you choose to share, and how to stay in control.

Last updated 7 September 2026 · macOS beta

01

Your conversations, on your Mac.

KIOO stores saved meeting recordings, transcripts, briefs, tags and generated drafts locally in its macOS application container. There is no KIOO cloud account or automatic KIOO meeting library sync in this beta.

The current beta stores local records and audio files without adding its own database encryption. Protection also depends on your Mac’s security settings, including device access and disk encryption.

02

How your words are processed.

Apple Intelligence features use on-device models when your Mac, language and settings support them. Transcription uses Apple’s speech frameworks. Depending on your device and recognition availability, Apple’s speech services may process audio. Not every transcription path is guaranteed to work offline.

If you choose and configure the optional OpenAI provider, KIOO sends transcript and context excerpts to that provider for suggestions. That service’s terms and privacy practices govern its processing and retention. You do not need an OpenAI credential for the default Apple Intelligence features.

Imported provider configuration is stored in the app container with restricted file permissions. This beta does not use a dedicated encrypted credential vault.

03

You choose what to connect.

Microphone access lets you record. Calendar access is optional and helps you see upcoming meetings. Contacts access is optional and supports participant details. You can review or revoke these permissions in macOS System Settings.

Record only conversations you are entitled to record, and make sure participants know when recording is taking place. Review generated text before relying on it or sharing it.

04

Keep it. Export it. Delete it.

You can revisit and delete saved meetings in Previous meetings. Deleting a saved meeting removes its record and associated app-managed recording. Copies you export or save elsewhere remain in those locations.

Uninstalling the app may leave local application data on your Mac. Contact us if you need help locating or removing that data. We cannot retrieve a meeting that exists only on your device.

05

No advertising trackers.

The KIOO beta includes no third-party advertising or analytics SDK and does not track you across other apps or websites. Meeting content is marked private in structured diagnostic logs; development transcript printouts are excluded from release builds.

Apple manages TestFlight feedback and system crash reporting. If you send us feedback, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message and attachments. Please avoid sending private meeting content unless you intend to share it.
